SPOKANE - Police are submitting the mother of an infant killed by her boyfriend to a battery of polygraph tests to determine whether she had anything to do with her son's death.
Jenauh Denison spoke to KREM 2 News reporter Othello Richards about the case on Tuesday.
Her boyfriend, 22-year-old Andrew Whitmire, is currently being held in the Spokane County Jail on $1 million bond charged with the death of 3-month-old Izayah Denison.
Denison says she suffered postpartum depression after giving birth to Izayah. She says she left her son with Whitmire and checked herself into Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment. Later that day, she learned Whitmire had allegedly beaten and shaken the baby for reportedly crying too much.
Spokane County prosecutors formally charged Whitmire on Friday.
Denison told KREM 2 News that prior to the incident, Whitmire never showed any signs of violence.
She said she met him in late August 2008.
"I hate him; I thought I loved him," Denison said. "I never want to see him again."
