Video: Intruder startles sleeping woman

OLYMPIA, Wash. - A young woman was startled Friday morning when she awoke to find a strange man standing next to her bed.

It happened at around 2 a.m. at the Huntington Apartments at 913 Lilly Road Northeast.

The intruder didn't steal anything, which has the woman and her roommate wondering what else he might have wanted.

"I had heard the blinds kind of rustle," said Samantha Fagergren.

"I was in my bed and I opened my eyes and I realized there was a strange man standing next to it," said Ally Ducker.

Ally screamed and the man ran out the patio door.

"He was in this long red shirt and light pants. Bigger guy. About 6 feet. Big build, but I didn't get a good look at him," said Ally.

The women live in a first floor apartment. Police tell them the man may have jimmied the security pin on the sliding glass door.

Their laptop and stereo equipment were out in the open, but nothing was stolen.

Now, it's not hard to be paranoid.

"Maybe it could have been the person we saw sitting down by the bus stop over there. Maybe it could be that person sitting over there on their break," said Samantha.

"Since we're two girls living in an apartment by themselves, I can just imagine what he might have been thinking," said Ally.

The women say police arrived within minutes with a K-9 unit, but were not able to find the suspect. They have now added extra locks to all their doors and windows.
