7Cares Idaho Shares: Boise Rescue Mission
Every year thousands of Idahoans give during 7Cares Idaho Shares, and charities around the Treasure Valley couldn’t be more thankful.
Charities like the Boise Rescue Mission, one of the largest providers of services to homeless and generally needy people in the state of Idaho.
One of the programs that benefit from 7Cares Idaho Shares is the Boise Rescue Mission's City Light Home, a homeless shelter for women and children.
Boise Rescue Mission President and CEO Rev. Bill Roscoe says that it is there children and their mothers can escape the streets.
"We are very serious about helping our kids get out of homelessness and get away from this life and give them a completely different life than maybe their parents had," said Roscoe.
The holidays can be a tough time for kids inside the shelter, but with the support of the community, Roscoe says the Rescue Mission can help bring the holiday spirit.
"The community is just amazing we always have lots of decorations and great Christmas trees and great food and great presents," said Roscoe.
The Rescue Mission has two centers in Boise and two in Nampa with lots of programs for those in need. They provide more than 1,000 meals a day and give shelter to 400 to 500 people a night.
Roscoe says without the support of the community none of this would be possible.
"The support that we receive through Cares Day is so critically needed, we really need the support, we need to make that connection with the community through Cares Day," said Roscoe.
A reminder that 7Cares Idaho Shares Day is this Saturday, December 10th.
You can make a cash or food donation between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Albertsons Stadium, or at one of the 8 Fred Meyer stores or 28 Albertsons stores in the Treasure Valley and Twin Falls.
We'll be broadcasting live from several of those locations.
